How do auctions work?
GovAuctions offers multiple auction formats to give buyers flexibility:
- Standard Auctions – These work just like traditional auctions: bidding is free, every auction starts at $0 with no reserve, and when the timer runs out, the highest bidder wins and pays the final price.
- Battles – In this format, participants place bids using points. Points can be earned for free or purchased in optional packs. Each bid extends the timer until no one else bids, and the last bidder wins, often at a fraction of typical retail value.
Where do the deals come from?
GovAuctions sources directly from government agencies and retail partners:
- Government Surplus: Surplus vehicles, tools, electronics, equipment, and more are made available for the public through our platform.
- Retail Surplus: Retailers also partner with us to move excess seasonal stock, warehouse overflows, and slow movers.
This ensures valuable products stay in circulation, reduce waste, and provide buyers with exceptional savings.
What happens when I win?
First, celebrate your win! Then:
- Pay the final auction price (plus sales tax if applicable).
- Your item will be shipped directly to your door with full tracking.
Do I have to pay to use GovAuctions?
No. GovAuctions is completely free to join. Some auction formats use points, which can be optionally purchased or earned through promotions. Standard Auctions are always free to bid in. There are no subscriptions, and shipping is always free.

GovAuctions ships to the contiguous U.S. and to the following Canadian provinces and territories: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.
